Kei Imazu started her carrer
as an artist when she was a student at Tama Art University.
2 years after completing graduate school, she was awarded
a prize in "VOCA2009", and then in 2013, the Koji
Kinutani Encouragement Award. The up-and-coming artist was
recently featured in the section "FOCUS" curated
by Gabriel Ritter from Minneapolis Institute of Art for
The Armory Show 2018 (New York).
As explained by the artist herself and art
critics, Imazu's creation consists of: collecting and scanning
images based on the concept of production; digitally editing
the images in a precise manner to create a unique virtual
space; and drawing oil painting on canvas based on the virtual
space.
Imazu, who had been selecting her themes and concepts with
principal reference to the art history and social circumstances,
released for the first time in her solo exhibition 2018,
works reflecting her inner story. She
She is based in Indonesia since 2018. This relocation is
expected to further enrich her creation.
The present exhibition presents Imazu's
brand new works produced in Indonesia, along with a large
piece of over 2.5 meters.
